The Details, Part 3

When I think of the details at our wedding, I always hear someone telling me how much they loved all the little touches of us that we had.  Honestly, that was one of my favorite things too.  I loved making this wedding ours.

(we still have a stack of these from paper stories.)

we made sure our guests got both Chicago Cubs & Detroit Tigers cookies.
Just a note here...see those menus tucked in between the napkin?  Yeah, we totally didn't know that we were going to have those through the hotel until we saw them ourselves at our sweetheart table.  Good things I decided to not order some myself!

and the Hard Rock provided us with some pretty cool decor too!
we'll discuss the floral centerpieces some other time. I'm proud of the HP book though!

I feel lucky that we were able to find such amazing people to help us pull all of this off.  It really was just a dream come true kind of day.  Including the music & dancing, which we'll talk about next time! :)

First Dance

What else are you going to call this post?  The moment I've been dreaming of all my life?  I've picked at least 5 songs for this specific moment in my entire lifetime?  (Don't lie, you know you have.)  When I was 6, planning to have a double wedding with my cousin at Wrigley Field where she was marrying Jordan Knight and I was marrying Joey McIntyre from the New Kids on the Block.  At this time, I think my song was Please Don't Go Girl.

Then when I grew up, I chose the following song.  Unfortunately, the man who asked me to marry him wasn't too fond of it.  (sad face!)

Romantic, right?  I came a long way from choosing old boy band songs.  (Let's be honest though, if Joe and I were friends, he'd be singing *something* at the wedding!)

The song that we did end up choosing might be a little weird for some, but we like it.  Whenever I hear it, I always think how Richard could have wrote those words exactly.  We promised not to over play our song so we wouldn't get sick of it so neither of us have heard it since the wedding.  (Ok, I heard it on the radio once and I immediately started screaming NOOOOOOOO and turned it off.)

Ok, enough rambling.  Here's the song for you to listen to while you scroll through. :)

Ah, the dream comes alive. :)  Happiness.

Until next time!

The Details, Part 2

I know it's easy to get way too swept up in the details, especially ones that are "in" for the moment.  I think the trick is to find ones that work for your wedding and not go overboard.  People will tell you that no one notices everything, and that's so true.  Not everyone sees every single detail.  I don't know if most of our guests noticed much other than the books and signs at each of the tables.  That's just my little piece of advice...on with the prettiness!

Just a few things to tie it together, you know?  We had pictures of us growing up scattered throughout the 2 rooms.  That amazing drink sign was made by the amazing baumbirdy.  We saw them at Indie Wed literally a few weeks before our wedding and they made these up for us.  As for those totally hip napkins, those were found in Walt Disney World in December 2010.  My friend Laura got us a package when she went in April 2011 so they might still be available!  I just thought it was an adorable tie to our love of Disney without being overboard.  After all, you did invite your friends & family to be your guests! :)

And as this is the last post before Christmas...  I hope your holiday is wonderful and full of happy memories, no matter what you celebrate!

Venue shots

Last night we had a meeting with a lighting vendor at our venue. Lighting vendor thinks that 8 uplights is not enough for our room and doesn't like the split of the mirrors so he's pushing for 16. Lighting guy for the hotel says that 8 is fine, 16 would be overkill. Is lighting vendor just trying to get more money out of us?? I'm thinking so...which is sad because on one hand I don't want to give him business if he's acting like that but at the same time, he's fairly cheaper than most (especially lighting guy at the hotel). Decisions.

This meeting also gave us an opportunity to see the room since we had last seen it in January, I think. I was armed with my camera, as I always am and took some shots. :)

here it is! the carpet isn't totally ugly!

here's a little alcove where our sweetheart table will probably be! (bars will not be there)

cool mirrors

when you walk to go inside the venue make sure to say hello to sting!

Ok, so there are tons more but I don't want to overload this post. I'm so excited! I can't wait to see it all done for our reception. Awesome space. So happy we went with this venue.

productive

Yesterday was a productive wedding planning day. 2 meetings; one with the catering manager at our reception venue and one with our photographer! Yes, we have a photographer! I know we haven't made a lot of decisions yet but that one will probably be our hardest. Isn't it the hardest for everyone? Photography is the only thing you really have left of your wedding day. (Except that frozen top layer of your cake, which I don't think we're going to do...sounds gross.)

Our new catering manager seems nice and it totally sounds like she'll go the distance for us, which is a huge plus because we can't afford a wedding coordinator at this point really. I did mention Christmas lights under the tablecloth at the sweetheart table which made her tilt her head and this popped into my head:

"you mean you don't look up wedding porn to keep up to date?"

Thank God I didn't actually say that.

I think this wedding is going to be fun. There are so many ideas brewing right now and I can't wait to see how it all comes together. First I need to make sure it actually does come together...
