Tuesday Shoesday

Up for round two...

grown up Dorothy shoes? yes please!

I actually have a pair of grown up Dorothy shoes..they don't look like this but they are still very fun! They actually look like my wedding shoes but with red sparklies (obvs) and a satin red bow. Too bad they're like 4 years old now... :(

Tuesday Shoesday: Groom/Groomsmen/Bridesman edition

So way back when we started planning this wedding, Richard said he liked the idea of grey suits and yellow converse shoes. (This was, of course, after I said I wanted converse shoes instead of dress shoes.) I don't know if I dig the yellow with the darker grey that we're going to look at but here's a possibility...

cute, right? Thanks, I designed them. :)

As you can see the heel stripe is a different color, navy. I'm not sure if I dig that. Then again, I'm not sure the guys will dig buying yellow converse shoes. That's ok. They'll do it for their good pal Richard. (If they don't, bridezilla might have to make an appearence. Nice bridezilla, though.) :)

Emmys 2010

So while all the crazy skinny girls were walking down the red carpet I was eating a not healthy dinner with my awesome fiance. Yay!

Wow..looks gorgeous.

people didn't like the length but I think it's interesting

she's so cute and I'm loving the bangs.

I loved how thick and flowy this dress was

I don't usually dig lace but this is really elegant

It's obvious I'm an absolute gleek, isn't it? Ok. I'm fine with that. I totally am.

So do you think my future in-laws could afford Lea's Oscar de la Renta dress? I think it would look really great in the wedding party. :)

Last names

It's hard to imagine that I'll be a part of a new family. A family I'm creating with Richard. It's all so new and exciting.

When it comes to changing my name...I'm not so excited. I can't pretend that I'm not the person I've always been with the last name I've had my entire life. I know it's just a last name but to me it's so much more. It's a representation of me. It's who I am, it's who I've always been...it's who I'll always be. It's in loving memory of the people who aren't here anymore who gave that name to me, my grandparents. I just don't want to give that up.

Luckily, I have a modern and forward-thinking fiance who understands the way I feel about this. Not only does he accept this, he wants to add my last name to his as well. He's becoming a part of my family too, after all. I'll be adding his last name and he'll be adding mine. (Also, in case you're wondering, it will be the same last name for both of us. Mine will come first, his will be second.) There will be no hyphen. I just don't agree with the hyphen...it totally rubs me the wrong way every time I see it.

Not many know about this. I tried to explain it to my mom but she just looked at me weird and started talking about how I was the family's Gloria Steinem. (That's a compliment.) Can't wait to try to explain it to his side of the family...

Marriage is starting a new family out of love. No one needs to change to be in that family. We bring different things to the table and that's the way love goes.

Investigation

So my mom is super awesome. She wrote down absolutely every. single. thing. I did my first year of life. I mean, everything. When I sat up on my own, when I smiled, when I rolled over. That's love.

Since she did that, I know what I was doing on the day my future husband was born. (Yes, boyfriend, I'm 5 months older than you. Let's move on. <3)

obviously, he's a bit older here but the baby in the hat (me) was taken on his day of birth.

I didn't roll over or sit up or walk on that day. I went on my first trip to the zoo. Betcha that I liked the elephants best, baby.

Hot Bride!

So on Saturday, while I was partying it up with my groom, Hollie (aka ThriftyinWhite) and HANSON, I got a dm from Helper of the Bride about being nominated for the Hot Bride award! Imagine how much more excited I was!! :) I appreciate it more than you know.

So here's the deal with this award comes 7 pieces of advice and nominations for bloggers who are absolutely deserving! So without further ado...my advice:

Number one:
Your wedding should be a statement of you and your fiance. No one else. Sure, you're family is going to want you to do things that you don't want to do and I say, if you really don't want to do them, don't. If you could go either way, do it for the ones you love.

Number two:
Don't settle. You don't need a unlimited budget to have the overall feeling that you want. Sure it helps, but you don't need it. You'd be amazed at the things you can find.

Number three:
Etsy is your friend. Make it your best friend. You can find *the* cutest things there that are not worthless crap. And you can spend a lot less money on things you need like invites, jewelry, favors...the list goes on and on.

Number four:
You look awesome the way you are. Crash dieting is just not worth it. Your guests are going to think you look beautiful, gorgeous, pretty and like an angel whether you know it or not.

Number five:
Things are gonna get crazy. People are going to say things and do things that are going to drive you nuts. Don't let it make you want to run to Vegas and give up what you want.

Number six:
This is going to sound hypocritical but...wedding blogs can help you and hinder you. They can offer some of the greatest ideas sometimes but you need to think for yourself too. Get creative yourself. Have fun with it and make it personal for you and your future spouse!

Number seven:
Your wedding is one day. Don't let it take over your life completely. Remember, this day is about marrying your best friend, partner in crime, lover, prince... One day to celebrate your love for each other with your friends and family. Make it the best you can dream of but don't lose sight of what you're really celebrating: love.

And the seven bloggers I'm nominating for this fun award are...

W. Thrifty @ Big Day for 10K
Hollie @ Thrifty in White
Lemon @ Lemon Bride
Crystal @ Budget Brides Chicago
Nicole @ Niche White
Joanie @ Word to the Brides
Sarah @ Wedding Sweets

Click on the award on the right side of the blog and share some advice ladies!

xoxo! :)

Tuesday Shoesday: groomsgirl (affordable edition)

After dreaming about all of those beautiful, expensive red soled shoes, I decided this Tuesday I should search for a more affordable options.

sorry for the sucky pic but it's the only one! Neon pink stripe!!!

not exactly nude in color but still very very cute!

Oh, I love shoes. Those neon pink heels on those are probably my favorite. Will it go with a navy dress? I think I'll make it go. :)

Cute invites!!

We like cards. Recently, fsil told us that when she goes out to get someone a card she eventually just settles because she knows that we will get the best card out of every card out there. :) And we each get our own cards!

So of course we were going to be totally picky about our invitations. We went to Papyrus, my favorite card store OF ALL TIME and I was totally disappointed about just how...square...they were. Traditional, plain...nothing about them stood out. I was totally bummed.

Then, I found etsy. I poured over the site for hours. Seriously, it was an insane amount of hours that I stared at the computer looking for the perfect invites. I'm so happy to say we found them!!!

check out the awesome poster in the background!

cute smile
obviously, I'm pretty excited.

here's our suite!! :)

invite...shimmer! :) (ps my hair is auburn because it should have been my natural color!)

so excited to see what people are going to do!!! :)

reception card=love

I'm sorry for such crappy quality pics...Edward wasn't being too nice to me with the limited light. It works though and I'm so excited about them. So is Richard (aka PeachGroom)! We love etsy so much now...I'm constantly sending him links for things I want and not just wedding related things!

Much appreciation goes out to Shannon at Felice Designs! We love these fun invites so much and can't wait for people to start receiving them in early January...sounds so far away, doesn't it???

Invitation teaser

I know you already got a taste of our invites but before I do the full post it deserves, here are another shot that doesn't give it all away...

There you go!!!! :)

More hair inspiration: Zooey

I *love* Zooey. Seriously, I love everything about her. Her style, her hair, personality...she's way too cute. If I could be anyone for a day, I'd pick her..(or Britney Spears. Don't judge.)

very cute, very laidback

again with the braid inspiration

gorgeous!

Obviously, I think the look I'm going for is natural but still pretty enough to not be an every day kind of hair style.

Tuesday shoesday: groomsgirl edition (and a teaser)

I really dig the idea of a navy cocktail length dress with a nude colored shoe, don't you?

of course, I don't expect fsil to buy this but it's still really, really, really pretty.

my taste is way too expensive for this

Next Tuesday's mission should be finding nude pumps that are actually affordable... a bride can dream! :)

Oh and that teaser I was telling you about...it's from our invitations that we got yesterday!!! :) I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
